Beyond the lodge itself, El Hinojo is also a working Patagonian sheep ranch dedicated to wool production. Here, life moves at the pace of the countryside: sheep grazing across the steppe, the constant wind and the daily rural activities that have shaped the identity of this place for generations.

Península Valdés is a protected natural area located on the Atlantic coast of Argentine Patagonia. Declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, it is home to extraordinary biodiversity, and part of its coastal environments are protected as a Ramsar Site, a reflection of its enormous ecological value and the importance of conserving this unique landscape.
We offer airport transfers from Puerto Madryn and Trelew airports (advance booking required). Guests may also arrive by private or rental vehicle. The final part of the journey follows well-maintained gravel roads. Due to the distances involved and the nature of the terrain, we recommend travelling in a high-clearance or 4x4 vehicle for a more comfortable experience.

Long before welcoming travelers, this corner of Península Valdés was part of the everyday life of a ranch dedicated to sheep production. Between the fieldwork, the sheep, the Patagonian wind and the vastness of the landscape, the desire was born to share this place with those seeking a genuine connection with nature.
That is how El Hinojo was born, a retreat designed to blend into its surroundings and offer the comfort needed without losing the essence of the place. Every decision, from the location of the houses to the choice of materials, was made with a single purpose: to respect the landscape and allow nature to always be the true protagonist.
